Laura Pooranam was the eldest daughter of Mr.J.Joseph, the eldest son of Rev.J.Joshua, second native, Pastor of NAGERCOIL Home Church, and Mrs.Mary Joseph, daughter of Rev.Samuel Zachariah, the first Pastor of Neyyoor Home Church. 

 

            She got married to Mr.Yesuprakasam Daniel eldest son of Mr.Daniel.  Mr.Daniel was working in the Tea Plantations in Ceylon as a conductor.  He belonged to Achengulam in Kanyakumari District and was a man with deep religious convictions who always upheld the cause of Missionary activities.  He  liberally  donated Rs.1000/- for construction of a new Church building at Achengulam, the  foundation stone for which was laid by Rev.Allan on 2nd September, 1890.  Yesuprakasam Daniel also had the qualities of his father.

 

             Yesuprakasam Daniel served as a Catechist in a Church in the Ceylon Tea Plantations.  His wife Laura Pooranam was a very religious lady and was of great help to her husband in his Church work and other religious activities.

 

            They were blessed with seven children - five daughters named Ethel Gnanammal, Susan Mercy, Hannah Milred, Mary Judith and Rosement Sugirthammal, and two sons called Samuel Victor and Joseph Chelladurai. None of their children is alive now except Sugirthammal who is now 82 years old.

 

            Laura Pooranam passed away on 6th May, 1919, at a very young age of 34 years, and buried in Ceylon.  Yesuprakasam Daniel continued his work and returned to India after retirement and settled in NAGERCOIL.  He was well taken care of by his children and grand children.  He left for his heavenly abode on 20th July, 1949 and was interred in the NAGERCOIL Home Church Cemetery.
