Our father late Mr.A.Joshua Ebenezer and mother Mrs.Thayammal Muthabaranam Ebenezer were an ideal Christian couple.  By their God-fearing  and loving family life, they showed the way for the success of their five children, Dr.Roy, Bro.Frederick, myself and our sisters Mrs.Grace David and Mrs.Dotty Moses.

Mr.A.J.Ebenezer was born on27th November,1882.  His parents were Dr. N.Asirwatham who served with the Neyyoor Medical Mission for a long period and Mrs. Grace Asirwatham who was the daughter of Rev.J.Joshua.  He had his education in the Mission Schools at NAGERCOIL.  On completion of his studies he was appointed as a teacher by Rev.Duthie.  Later he became the Choir Master of the NAGERCOIL Home Church.  He was the one who established the Church  Choir, with devoted  youngsters who were talented in music and singing.

Father served as the Choir Master in the Church for fifty years.  In those days when the art of amplifying sound was not developed, his voice used to be heard above the voices of thousands who sang hymns and lyrics during Sunday Services.

In every family who had someone then studying or studied in the Duthie English Girls High School, NAGERCOIL he was talked of with love and affection for his genial ways.

In our house there was often the singing of Christian songs.  We never missed the evening family Prayers.  Mother taught us Bible stories and to be courteous and good to others.

“People like our father and mother can never die.

How Green was our Valley”.
