Solomon Robert is the son of late Mr.S.Yesudian and Mrs.Annapooranam
Yesudian, the grand daughter of Rev.J.Joshua. He was born on 11th July,
1911. He started his school
education at the Primary and Secondary schools run by the
He was appointed by
the Travancore Government after successfully competing in the
competitive examination conducted by them. However he was later absorbed in
the Central Government as an
Auditor in the Income Tax
Department.
While in this service,
he started a Tea business to supplement his income and when it
flourished he resigned the Government job and concentrated fully in the
business. Mr.Solomon
Robert married Mercy Juliet daughter of Mr.& Mrs.N.D.Sahayam on 7th
October, 1943 at NAGERCOIL.
She also had her early education in the Mission Schools at
NAGERCOIL. Mr.&
Mrs.Robert are regular in attending Church Services at the Mr.Robert
served as the Secretary of Mault Missionary Society for twenty years. During this period the Churches at
Ramanputhoor, Pallivilai and Vadalivilai were rebuilt. The whole family is very much
interested in music and singing and they organised the NAGERCOIL Musical
Association and on all Sundays after the Service the association members
gather together in his house and have a singing session for about two
hours. They are continuing
this for the past fifty years.
They are blessed with three sons - Yesudian Devasahayam, David
Sundersingh and Joshua Manoharan and four daughters Edith Sugirtha
Pooranam, Elizabeth Chandramathy, Gracelin Padmavathy and Angelin
Prabavathy. However tragedy
struck the family and Manoharan their son died after a brief illness at
the age of 48 years on 15th July, 1997 and Dennison Duraisingh their
son-in-law passed away at a
very young age of 37 years on 23rd November, 1985.
