Robson Thomas is the son of Mr.Thomas L.Ivan and Mrs.Iris Ivan who is the grand daughter of Mrs.Pooranam Malachi.  Mrs.Pooranam Malachi was the grand daughter of Rev.J.Joshua the second Pastor of the NAGERCOIL Home Church.  Mr.& Mrs.Thomas L.Ivan were living in Bombay, and Robson had his education at Bombay.  He took his M.Sc., Degree in Fisheries Management, from the Central Institute of fisheries Education (Indian Council for Agricultural Research) under the University of Bombay, in 1987.

 

He was awarded a Scholarship to pursue Tropical Coastal Management Course at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, in the United Kingdom during 1990-’91 and he took a Master of Science Degree in that Subject.

 

He married Amenita on 25th September, 1991.  She also did her M.Sc. Degree in Fisheries Management in the Central Institute of Fisheries Education under  the University of Bombay.  She held the top rank of University in that course. She was a recipient of the UNESCO and ODA Shared Scholarship Scheme to undergo M.Sc. Degree Course in Tropical Coastal Management Course at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.

 

They both have a lot of qualifications and experience in Computers specially on Fisheries and Remote Sensing, Graphics, Presentation and Statistical Packages.

 

Amenita has worked as Consultant, Traffic-India,  a division of World Wide Fund for Nature-India for compilation and editing of Identification Manual for Indian Wildlife - Species and Derivatives in Trade.  She has also worked as Project and Programme Officer for many Projects and Programmes.

 

Robson has also worked as Research Associate, Project and Programme Officer on many Projects and Programmes.  During July 1995 to January 1996 he was a visiting Scientist and Consultant to the United Nations Environment Programme, at the Eros Data Center, Sioux Falls, USA.

 

They have attended various Conferences, Seminars and Workshops world wide as participant and in the capacity of a trainer and resource person  and have also led several professional teams consisting of Engineers and Scientists on various training assignments and workshops in the country and at the International level.  They have many publications to their credit.

 

Robson and Amenita have two children - a daughter named Michelle Sylvia born on 27th November, 1997 and a son called Millen John born on 21st May, 1999.  The family is settled in Canada.
