Irene Jennie was the eldest daughter of Mr.L.J.Chelliah and Mrs.Jessie Chelliah.  She started her schooling atRangoon, Burma, and then continued it in  Duthie Girl’s High School at NAGERCOIL, when the family returned to India due to the Second World War.  Later she took her M.A.and M.Ed. degrees of the Madras University and joined as a teacher in the Madras Educational Service.       She married Mr.J.D.Rajadhas son of Mr.& Mrs. A.J.Doss of Puthalam.  He graduated from  Scott  Christian  College, NAGERCOIL. On completion of his studies he joined the Railways, and  both of them settled in Madras.

 

            Mrs.Jennie Rajadhas was a great grand daughter of Rev.J.Joshua.  She was a kind and loving person ever willing to help anyone who is in need.  Her sincerity and integrity was well recognised and soon she became the Headmistress of a High School in the Chengleput District.  She was respected by all her students and colleagues alike and was held in high esteem by all who know her.

 

            Mr.Rajadhas left the Railway Service and joined the Benue State Educational Service in Nigeria where he served in a Teacher’s Training College run by the Methodist Mission.  He also served as the Chaplain of the College.  Later,  Mrs.Jennie Rajadhas also left for Nigeria and was appointed as a Lecturer in Education  in the prestigious Government  Teacher’s Training College in Katsina-Ala, Benue State.  Soon she was promoted as the Vice Principal of the College.

 

            They have a son Dr.R.Ruskin and a daughter Dr.(Mrs.)Punitha Rajasudhakar.

 

            Dr.R.Ruskin is a member of the Teaching Faculty of the Scott Christian College, NAGERCOIL.  He is now working in the Sharjah University.  Dr.Rajasudhakar and Dr.(Mrs.) Punitha Rajasudhakar are medical doctors and are now working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

            Mrs.Jennie Rajadhas died in Nigeria  in an accident on 28th May, 1977 and was laid to rest in the compound of the  Methodist Mission Church at Otukpo.  Her funeral procession and the Service was attended by almost all the citizens of Otukpo, many foreign nationals and Indians working there.  The Service was conducted by the Bishop of Benue State the  Rt. Rev. B.A. Achigili.

 

            Mr.Rajadhas continued his service there and passed away on 15th November, 1994, after a brief illness and was interred near the grave of his wife.
