Joicelyn Mercy was the only daughter among six children of Dr.Yesudian and Mrs.Gnanai Yesudian, the grand daughter of Rev.J.Joshua through Mrs.Salome John Sahayam.  Since Mercy lost her father early in life, she was brought up by her mother with great care and tenderness.  All her brothers loved her dearly.  She by herself was a highly disciplined, intelligent girl, who was clever in her studies, in drawing, stitching and other arts.  She was always self reliant and helped her widowed mother in all respects.  She passed her SSLC  with credit.  When time came she was given in marriage to Mr.Inbaraj.

Mr.Inbaraj was the son of Mr.Samuel who was a renowned estate manager inCeylon.  His mother was Nesammal.  Inbaraj had his higher education in India and he graduated from the Madras Christian College.  He was a very handsome six footer, lean and smiling and was a recognised foot ball player.  He participated in several local tournaments held in our town and had very many fans.  All the brothers of Mercy were close friends of Inbaraj and he married Mercy in the year 1943.  While Inbaraj was working in Ceylon , Mercy joined him after the birth of her first child.  Soon they returned to India due to the conditions in Ceylon and Inbaraj joined work as a teacher in Munnar, Government High School and is fondly remembered by his students even now.

They had three children Nirmala, Rajan and Gupta.  They were a very loving family and very popular in Munnar.  While on a short visit to NAGERCOIL, Inbaraj died suddenly at the age of 39 years and the tragedy was unbearable for Mercy and the entire family.  Mercy and her children were taken under the protective care of her mother Mrs.Gnanai Yesudian.  All her brothers stood by her in her great loss.  Her children were brought up very well.  Their first daughter Nirmala was married to Prem Kumar Dennison, son of Mr.Y.J.Dennison, who was working for Birla’s in New Delhi.  Now she is having a clinical laboratory in NAGERCOIL.  Their second son is Jesudian Samuel, who is a leading architect in Madras.  Their third son Dr.Charles Manohar Gupta is a surgeon.  He worked in Kanyakumari Medical Mission and then at Madras and is now at U.S.A.

Mercy died on 14th April, 1994 suddenly due to the shock caused by the death of her son-in-law on that day.
