Grace Thilagavathy, the second daughter of Mr.J.David and Mrs.Annie David, was born, in NAGERCOIL, on 28th May, 1934.  She completed her schooling in the Duthie English Girl’s High School in 1950 and her Intermediate, in the Scott Christian college, NAGERCOIL.  On the 1st of May, 1952, she was married to David D.W.Daniels, and became a devoted wife and mother of five children and was adored by her husband and children.

David D.W.Daniels is the only child of Mr.D.M.R.Daniels who worked as teacher and headmaster at many places in Burma from 1923 to 1942, and Mrs.J.E.Daniels.  Though he was born in NAGERCOIL on 5th April, 1925, he was taken to Burma in infancy and had his early education in Burma.  He completed his high school in the Scott Christian High School, NAGERCOIL.  He did his Intermediate and B.Sc. courses in the Madras Christian College and his Physical Education in the YMCA College, Madras.

On graduation, he worked as Demonstrator in Biology, between 1946 and 1948, in the Scott Christian College and was deputed by Mr.G.H.Marsden for Physical Education, and returned as Physical Director, to the College where he served meritoriously till 1983.  While in College, he  also played  the organ in Chapel and had a student Choir for the College.

Thilagam, the great grand daughter of Rev.J.Joshua, was an active member of the YWCA and, for a while, its Secretary.  She became a member of the Home Church Choir in 1962, and continued as “Choir Mother” in devoted services, till the end of her life in 1998.  Starting as part-time music teacher in the Morton English Primary School in 1968, she went on to become a regular teacher and worked on efficiently, till she retired as Headmistress in 1994.  She was respected and loved by pupils, colleagues and parents.

Daniels became the Organist of the Home Church, NAGERCOIL, in 1962 and is still in office.  Earlier he had started helping his predecessors Mr.A.J.Ebenezer and Mr.M.J.Ebenezer,  with organ playing at Church Services from 1949.

They have two daughters - Gracia and Haema - and three sons - Edison, Ranjit and Dulip.  All the children are married and well settled in life.  Daniels is now living in his own house along with his son Dulip, Dulip’s  wife Sheeba and their son Trevor.
