Benjamin
was born on 9th
April, 1938, in
Johore
Bahru, Malaysia, to Dr.J.Ben Ross and Mrs.Mercy J.Ross. The family returned to NAGERCOIL
during World War II, and Benjamin completed his schooling at
Scott Christian High School, NAGERCOIL.
He then completed his B.E.Degree at the Coimbatore Institute of
Technology.
He married Vasantha the second daughter of Mr.J.B.Thankaraj a grand
son of Rev.J.Joshua the second Pastor of NAGERCOIL Home Church, and
Mrs.Sundarabai Thankaraj on 14th May, 1964.
Edith Vasantha Selvi was born on 12th July,
1944, in NAGERCOIL. She went on to complete her
schooling at Duthie Girl’s High School, NAGERCOIL, and her B.Sc. Degree in
Physics and Mathematics at Scott Christian College, NAGERCOIL.
After
their wedding Benjamin went on to complete his M.E.Degree in Civil
Engineering at Guindy Engineering College. Their first son, Sudeep Jebaraj was born on
16th August, 1970, in NAGERCOIL. Four years later, the family moved
to Zambia, Africa, where Benjamin worked for the Water Works
Department of the Ndola City Council. Their second son, Sudeesh Rajkumar
was born on 9th August,
1976, in NAGERCOIL. In 1979, the family moved to
Mogadishu, Somalia, where Benjamin worked for the World Bank. Sudeep was accepted to the
University of Rochester in the U.S. in 1987, and the rest of the family moved to the
U.S. in 1988.
Benjamin earned another Master’s Degree, this time in Environmental
Engineering, from Oklahoma State University in 1989.
Sudeep joined the J.S.S.Medical College, Mysore, in 1993, and Sudeesh got accepted into the
special seven-year Medical degree programme at
Boston University the same year.
Benjamin and Vasantha remained in Pittsburgh till 1997, when they moved to
Boston.
After Benjamin’s untimely passing away in 1998, Vasantha remained
in Boston till 2000, when she moved to her current residence
in West
Lafayette,
Indiana.
Sudeep completed his medical course in September, 1999, and is
currently completing his internship in Mysore.
Sudeesh will complete his medical course in May, 2000, and will
commence his residency programme in Emergency Medicine in July,
2000.
