Bernard
Jacob Ross (alias) Bala Ross is the youngest son of Dr.J.Ben Ross and
Mrs.Mercy J.Ross, and is the grand son of the well known ‘Ross Kandak’, a
man with a gun in his days.
Bala Ross did his early schooling at the Mission Institutions in
NAGERCOIL. Then he joined the
Madurai Thyagarajar College of Engineering and did his B.E.Degree course
in Electrical Engineering. He
was a good foot ball player and had represented theEngineering
College foot ball
team for five years. He also
holds the AMIE.(Electrical) Degree.
On
completion of his studies he joined in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board as
Assistant Engineer in the year 1971.
Now he is the Executive Engineer in Tuticorin Thermal Power
Station. He went abroad for
about five years, one year in Saudi
Arabia and four years in Muscat. He held the post of Technical
Manager of a reputed firm in Muscat.
He married Vanitha Pooranam, the third daughter of
Mr.J.B.Thankaraj, who was the grand son of Rev.J.Joshua the second Pastor of NAGERCOIL Home Church,
and Mrs.Sundarabai Thankaraj.
She did her schooling in the Duthie Girl’s Higher Secondary School
NAGERCOIL. She did her B.Sc.
Degree in the Scott Christian College, NAGERCOIL, and B.Ed. Degree
in the Madurai University Correspondence Course.
She worked as Head Mistress in Etna Noble English Primary
School for a long period and resigned the job
to join her husband, abroad.
They have an only daughter, named Shamina who was given in marriage
to Dr.Sagar Moses in the year 1994, and a grand daughter Sandra born on
8th February, 1997.
